Marching Mustangs Continue Season with Many Accolades

“The group continues to improve with each performance and has had some great success,” said Christopher Buti, band director of the Marching Mustangs.

The Marching Mustangs have had a great 2022 season so far. In their first competition at Grayslake North Marching Contest, they placed first out of two bands in class AAA. The Marching Mustangs had the best auxiliary (band visuals) and best drum majors which include Alex Grajales, Julia Olson, and Lauren Ryoo

At The Wheeling Marching Contest (their second competition)the Marching Mustangs got third out of seven bands in class AA. They again received awards for the best drum majors in the division and overall.

These amazing achievements are due to the wonderful direction of band director, Christopher Buti and his support staff, Kevin Carroll, TJ Mitchel, and Quincey Cowell. Many hours of practice starting back in August have proven beneficial in this year’s show, “Uncharted.” All students have put so much effort in hopes of finishing the season strong.

Next, the Marching Mustangs will be at the Prospect Marching Contest on October 1st. They have another two competitions on October 22nd at the University of Illinois Marching Contest and Illinois State University Marching contest. Do not  forget the Marching Mustangs perform at all the home football games, so come check them out.
