Girls Cross Country Sports Briefs
Head Coach: Coach Marks
Team Leader: This year’s captains are Melissa Bivolarov, Colette Lampa, and Anita Konopka
Star Runners: Colette Lampa, Lucy Bollweg, Anita Konopka
What the coach has to say: “The athletes on the team have been working hard this year, many since the beginning of summer. This dedication has resulted in a huge improvement in individual times compared to a year ago. As a team, we are working to stay healthy so that individual improvements will translate to our team goals of finishing higher in the MSL than last year and earning a trip to the sectional meet.”
Recap: The 2022 Fall Cross Country Season has been a whirlwind! Every practice is filled with hard work that is later flaunted at meets and invitationals. This year’s seniors are: Melissa Bivolarov, Shreya Chacko, Isa Castrejon-Deloya, Colette Lampa, Anita Konopka, and Hannah Oloro. All the girls keep their heads up and hearts in the race no matter what is thrown at them. Through injuries, bad weather, hard workouts and competitive meets, this team never fails to support one another. The season of PR’s soon crosses the finish line with the MSL Championship Conference Meet approaching on October 15th and the Regional Meet on October 23rd.
“This season has been kinda crazy but a lot of fun especially since we have a lot of freshmen. This gives the team lots of hope to have greater talent after we graduate. It’s easy to keep going because we all motivate each other. Personally, I am a lot more motivated with a larger team because there is more potential for positivity when there’s more people backing you up.” senior Anita Konopka said
“I’m enjoying cross country this season! Our whole team has been working hard and we’ve improved so much. We are excited for regionals coming up!” sophomore Lucy Bollweg said.
