Exploring the Stables
Located within the walls of Rolling Meadows High School, in the North Cafeteria, is a shop called the “Mustang Stable.” Almost every student has passed by the Stable once; whether they realized it or not.
The stable is open every Thursday and Friday for 15 minutes at the end of all lunches. This student-run business offers a wide variety of items. The store sells merchandise ranging from tote bags to hoodies to little mustang onesies. The things sold are affordable, and 5% of all sales go toward helping out the families in need at Meadows.
A virtual shop with more information on the store and an even wider selection of gear can also be found by searching “RMHS Mustang Stable” online. Customizable items like banners, decals, and different forms of apparel in collaboration with multiple brands such as Nike and more can be found on the RMHS sideline/BSN sports website.
With the guidance of Mrs. Vannatta (Business Education Instructor) and Mr. Dyer (Technology Education instructor), the students of the Small Business, Graphic Design and Special Education courses work together to create and distribute products for the proud Mustangs of Meadows. In a way, running the shop is a learning experience. According to Mrs. Vannatta, in a past article from the Chicago tribune, the students practice skills they can use in real life, such as how to work with customers, how to run a small business and other important skills.
Victoria Domogala, one of the many students that has shopped at the stable, talks about the quality of the Stable’s products.“I bought some hoodies from the shop. They’re very good quality- I wear my hoodies a lot,” and this proud customer goes on to say, “I definitely recommend other students check it out.”
