In a summer filled with passion, growth and leadership, one student stood out for her dedication and commitment to making a difference. Meet Mika Carreon, Junior at RMHS who’s a passionate and a driven individual, recently participated in Project Girls Lead, a transformative program organized by IL Rep Anne Gillespie and Lieutenant Gov Juliana Stratton’s offices. Project Girls Lead aims to empower young women and equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to make an impact in their communities. Carreon’s experience with the program not only left a lasting impression on her but also inspired her to pursue a career as a lobbyist. During her time in Project Girls Lead, Carreon had the opportunity to learn from influential leaders, engage in thought-provoking discussions, and develop essential leadership skills. Through workshops and mentorship, she gained a deeper understanding of the political landscape and the power of advocacy. Carreon’s journey throughout the program was nothing short of remarkable. Her dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment to making a difference were evident in every step she took. Whether it was crafting persuasive arguments, organizing community events, or engaging in meaningful conversations, Carreon’s passion for creating positive change shone through. Reflecting on her experience, Carreon’s story serves as an inspiration to young individuals everywhere. Her determination to make a difference and her belief in the power of advocacy are qualities that should be celebrated and encouraged.
