Leaving media class this year feels way more emotional than I expected. At first, it was just another class on my schedule. A class I didn’t expect to like at all. It very quickly turned into a place where I grew a lot as a person and made some of my favorite high school memories. Every time I walked into class I knew that everything would be okay. I could be creative and put myself out there via videos.
Being the social media manager was one of the best parts of the class. I learned how to plan posts, think creatively, and actually understand how social media works. It made me feel responsible and trusted. I knew that my role in the class was important and I was going to have to help others take over. This semester I got to be a tutor for other people that wanted to take over. I am so proud to leave the social media page to three amazing girls that have worked hard all year for it. They are so ready! I loved seeing everyone’s work posted and knowing that it helped represent the class and my fellow classmates.
What I’ll miss the most, though, is the people. I made some really great friends in media class, and we always supported each other, whether we were filming, editing, or just talking and laughing during work time. It never felt awkward or boring, and everyone made the class fun to be in. The connections that you build in a class like this is out of this world. None of my other classes in high school compared to this. The memories that I have are forever. I am forever grateful to everyone in media.
Leaving media class is so sad it’s closing my chapter of high school. I’m excited to move on, but I’ll always remember the creativity, the friendships, and the confidence I gained from being a part of it. It’s definitely something I’ll miss and will push others to do the same. Join a class you don’t think you’ll like. You might end up sticking with it all throughout high school. It also might end up being your favorite class!
