FCCLA State Competitions

The FCCLA State Competitions were held in Springfield on Friday. The following mustangs did a great job showcasing their talents and came home with medals.

Senior Sara Pilkati earned a Silver Medal in Fashion Construction.

Sophomore Raya Bimbolova earned a Silver Medal for Fashion Apparel Display. Raya had  loved to dress up as a child. As she grew , her passion for fashion did as well. When asked how she feels about her win, Raya said, “It feels surreal. I didn’t expect it to happen, but I feel like it’s a reward for all of my efforts all the way back last semester when I started sketching the idea out for my teacher to see. I’m proud of my accomplishment. However, I will be aiming for higher next year with the experience I have now from it.”

Senior Heni Soni earned a Silver Medal for Preschool Storytelling. Heni became a part of FCCLA during her junior year. Her delayed start in the club led her to want to compete right away. “Knowing I have a decent set of public speaking skills, Mrs Krupika (the coach) recommended this certain event.”

Sophomore Alice Finney competed in Preschool Storytelling and got herself a Gold Medal. Alice wants to be a teacher and she is a natural at capturing the attention of preschoolers. She advised the newer members, “Always go in with a good attitude and don’t be scared if you mess up. A big part of teaching is improvising.”

Krupika commented, “It was a successful trip, so make sure to congratulate these four on all of their hard work if you see them!”
