The Cereal Bowl is a yearly contest between both Rolling Meadows and Elk Grove high schools to see which school can collect the most cereal to donate to the local food pantries. Students, teachers, and families all help, and this year, feeder schools participated as well. Some bring a few boxes, while others bring many, but the overall goal is to show school spirit while helping the community.
This year, Rolling Meadows collected about record-breaking 3,795 boxes. However, it was not enough, and Elk Grove edged RMHS out. The competition was close, and both schools worked hard. Even though Meadows did not win, the effort showed how much students can do when they work together.
Rolling Meadows did win the football game against Elk Grove (Meadows 40-0), which gave the school a reason to celebrate. That victory also gives hope for next year’s Cereal Bowl. Students and staff believe RMHS can come back stronger and take the title in 2026.
In the end, the Cereal Bowl is about more than winning. It is about helping people in need. Elk Grove may have won this year, but both schools made a big difference. The tradition will continue, and both schools will be ready to compete again next year.
